Trick or treating. A.J. aka Mickey Mouse, had never had on a costume before, (mommy thinks infants in costumes are okay for other peoples kids, but not hers) never went out after dark and asked for candy! It was fun.
We started when it was light out at the mall. That was a breeze, then stopped for a hamburger, then we were on to a friends house for the real deal! After it got dark we started wandering the streets. We saw witches, spider webs, and ghosts! OOOOOOOOOOO spooky i would say... and he would say, yea! By the end of our three street journey he was saying Trick or Treat with Gusto! Then, the phrase "more houses mommy", and finally "ooo more spooky, look at that spooky!" sighs. Three year olds ROCK!
Yea, and best of all outside of the absolute cuteness that shown through him all night? We raked in on the sugary stuff! More reeses than anything else! (and mickey doesn't like them! giggles). This morning the says, more trick or treat tonight mommy! I had to enjoy the pureness of that moment. Wouldnt we like doing that? Dressing up and asking for candy, and seeing spooky things for just one more day?
There was only one problem we had last night. While walking past a group of young teenagers, 13 or 14 years old, this boy was cussing at a young girl! I mean saying i am the f'ing f'er of f'ing every f'ing thing... etc. I looked at him and said "HEY! Chill it man!" His friends used it as a much needed chance to tell him what they thought about his language. As I walked away I could hear them telling him about how much lack of respect he had, even for little kids, and how pathetic it was.
What has happened to kids? Are they not allowed to be kids long enough anymore? I think they are forced into this grown up phase tooo quickly. Oh well. I have to worry about one for sure, then hopefully he will influence the rest as well as he can.
For now anyway. Maybe ... just maybe. If my idea gets off the ground and rolling....
pictures to come... ;-)
What a cutie! I'm glad to hear that ya'll had a great time, with the exception of the foul mouthed kid. There's always one who thinks it makes them look tough to talk that way. Sheesh. Glad you put him in his place.
ReplyDeleteAhhh...the good old days. Pillow cases of un-poisoned candy! And thanks to a lack of civility, those teens will never have the "good old days". But for a moment, lil Mickey will!
ReplyDelete*GRIN*
What a cutie!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you guys had fun!
He is adorable!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you had a good time..Mine had fun .. We went to the Haunted Jailhouse..It was mostly fixed up, trying to be as gory and gross as they possible could get it. If you ask me...I would have loved more Ghostly than just plain out chop chop maniac nasty>, but that's the way of our world now....
It was very horrific.. My daughter probably will never want to do that again.. My son went thru it last year and said "never again"...
Yeah.. As far as the potty mouths.... There are always a few.. They get it from their parents..and other kids...
All the potty mouth proves to me is that they are trying to get attention, and they don't think they can get it any other way..
I've had to stop my son from almost saying what he's heard some of his classmates say..
Listen to me... I sound like my mother...
I sure do wish I had a Reese's right now..
Super cute, that Mickey!
ReplyDeleteI am glad the both of you had a good time!
Cute!! I am glad you had a fun and safe Halloween.
ReplyDeleteYep, kids these days........some need a little bit of old fashion discipling.
Awww, so cute!
ReplyDeleteKids grow up as fast as their parents allow them too. It's sad that more parents don't take responsibility for their kids growth.
I think yours will definitely be one of the good ones;-)
Miss 1999: its sad really for that kid. oh well. he will learn, the hard way.
ReplyDeleteJay: no doubt. too bad really, it was fun in the "good ole days". innoncence is something every child deserves.
alicia: yea. we BOTH did!
Steph: yea... i hate the chop up bloody bones gory knives haunted houses. blech. I see that austin is already trying to copy things that he sees on TV. Makes me worry about him as he gets older. Thinking we are going to start sticking to animal planet and PBS. now i sound like MY MOM! (its inevitable i think, no matter how hard we try, some of our parenting skills will come from that source.)
CD: thanks. love that little mouse.
Goddess: If i had my way, yea. I don't understand all this political correctness of not discplining children. You dont have to harm them to punish them. Boundaries are important part of social interaction, and the system seems to be robbing the kids of this training. Wanna start a revolution?
LBug: Thanks. I hope he is... Parents don't nurture their kids. Too busy working and paying attention to the all-mighty dollar. Its necessary, I know! But find places for them that nurture love and spirituality in some sense.
okay off the soap box! thanks ladies & gents for the comments. Let's hope more kids are like austin and less like potty mouth boy. (I have no idea who this kid is, and he may be perfectly normal and harmless, but once his friends started saying that, it sparked my intuition. ;-) ).
OMG, look at that beautiful curly hair!
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute costume, and it sounds like you all had a great time.
ReplyDeleteI hope that your little Mickey Mouse doesn't grow up too quickly.
ReplyDeleteOH how CUTE!!!!!! I LOVE the costume, most Mickey ones are a bit silly but that one is GREAT!
