I had a virgin experience today. I ate a loquat. Yum!
The skin is a soft yellow color and very tender. There is not much fruit mostly seed. They are about 1 1/2 inches in diameter. Now I am sitting here wondering how to use these little fruits to make jelly or in a recipe.
I have to get back to cooking at home more often. I love it. And there are so many new varieties of foods here in California, I am robbing my taste buds of some seriously exciting experiences.
Anyone eaten a loquat?
I've never heard of these. they look sort of like yellow plums, don't they..

steph: they taste like a cross between a plum and a pear. very sweet. lot of work for a little fruit.
